Information Processing

The Extension is a printing bridge for public service desks. It allows an attendant to print receipts, tickets and labels from the service desk application without going through the browser's print dialog.

The Extension does not store any data and does not transmit any data over a network. It makes no network requests of any kind and contains no analytics, telemetry or tracking of any sort.

It processes two categories of data, in transit only and only on the user's own computer:

• Website content. The service desk application sends the Extension the document to be printed — either raw printer commands (ESC/POS or ZPL) or a page image — together with the name of the selected printer. The Extension does not read the page, does not inspect the DOM and does not extract anything from it; it receives only what the application explicitly hands it for printing.
• Personally identifiable information. Because a receipt or label may show a citizen's name, and in some services a document number, that information can be present inside the content being printed. The Extension does not parse, interpret, store or transmit it. It passes the content through to the local print component and retains nothing.

Data Collection and Usage

The Extension does not collect user information, browsing history or personal data for any purpose of its own.

It does not track user activity or behaviour on websites.

It stores nothing. The Extension does not request the storage permission and writes nothing to browser storage, local storage or cookies.

The content described above exists only for the duration of a single print request and is discarded when that request completes. It is never written to disk by the Extension and never leaves the computer.

The Extension is active only on the domains declared in its manifest: the GovOne service desk applications, and localhost during development. On any other website it does nothing and cannot be contacted.

Local Print Component

Browsers do not allow extensions to list the printers installed on a computer or to send data to one. The Extension therefore communicates, using Chrome's native messaging, with a print component installed on the same computer by the organisation's IT team.

That communication is local to the machine. The component enumerates the printers installed in Windows and sends the print job to the operating system's print spooler. It makes no network requests, keeps no log file and stores no copy of what is printed.

Without that component installed, the Extension opens, reports that the print component was not found, and prints nothing.

Third-Party Services

The Extension uses no third-party services. It sends no data to any server, including any server operated by GovOne, and loads no remote code.

Data Retention

None. The Extension retains no data after a print request completes, and stores nothing between sessions.

Security

Because nothing is stored and nothing is transmitted off the computer, there is no repository of user data associated with the Extension to be accessed or disclosed.

The Extension accepts requests only from the pages of the domains declared in its manifest, and only through a dedicated message channel on the page itself; it discards any message that does not originate from that same window. The application never needs to know the Extension's identifier.

Children's Privacy

The Extension is a workplace tool for service desk attendants and is not directed at children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly process any personal information from individuals under this age.
